October 18, 2004The El Cardunal Assembly is holding a clergy appreciation dinner Friday, November 5, at Randall Oaks Golf Course in West Dundee. The dinner will be in appreciation of our ordained clergy from Elgin, Huntley, Hampshire, Algonquin, Carpentersville, and Dundee. Invited are our bishops, priests and nuns, deacons, KC state dignitaries, Sir Knights and wives, first and third degree members of our local councils and wives, seminarians, and widows of former Sir Knights. Also welcome are parishioners who are not KC members. The priests should have already received their invitations.
We haven't had the signup for this event that I would have expected by now. One of the key things the Knights stand for is support of our Catholic church and our clergy, and we planned this event to honor and stand with our clergy. I've asked the council Financial Secretaries to collect the money and roll of members who will attend - which eases the burden at the assembly level.
Details: Cocktails start at 7:00 and dinner starts at 7:30. Cost is $20 per person. (The assembly is paying for the priests and nuns; councils can pick up the expense of their deacons if they wish). Sir Knights are encouraged to wear tux and social baldric. We will also have some members in full regalia to march in the flags at the beginning of the dinner. The menu is "American Open Buffet", which includes salad, steamed vegetables, rolls, mashed potatoes, round of beef, turkey breast, and choice of dessert. There will be a cash bar.
