Dear Brother Knight’s,

Why are you reading this?  The answer is both obvious and complex.  But at some point you made the decision to become a Knight of Columbus and join the ranks of our great

brotherhood.  Only you know the reason or reasons that you joined but I would like to tell you Brothers that the answers to those reasons are still there today!  You joined to participate in some way….how was that?

If you joined for camaraderie,  then you should try out our new meeting format;  we begin at 7:30 and try to have the business portion over by 8:30  with light socializing  until 10:00 pm.  If you joined to serve others,  there are plenty of opportunities coming up;  “A Day Out With Thomas”  at the Illinois Railroad Museum in August  (which benefits Habitat for Humanity),  Irish Fest in  September,  Tootsie Roll/MH Drive in September to name a few.  If you joined to have  “FUN”  then the opportunity is still there sharing time with your Brother Knights in any of the activities mentioned above.  Whatever the reason you joined,  I would ask you to look again as we begin this new Columbian year at why you joined and getj re-involved in our Council activities!!  I’m not asking you to attend every meeting  (although that would be really great if you could)  but give “Something”!!  We have over 180 members on our roll,  and if every member gave just one hour of their time for the MH Drive on that Friday or Saturday we would be able to cover 9 locations every hour of the drive!!  There were many times last year that we only had one or two Knights out on location…..it’s not easy,  sometimes it hurts but it wasn’t easy for Christ to stretch out His hands on the cross and it hurt a lot!!!

I am thrilled and humbled to follow in the footsteps of the Grand Knights that I have known since I joined the Knights and our Council...and I would like to take this opportunity to thank SK Rich Hoster for his leadership, direction and enthusiasm this past year!!   I will do my best to continue to lead the great work that Siena Council is known for and with your help and

support my Brothers make this Columbian year a year  of true charity,  fraternity,  unity  and patriotism.  Please pray for me as I will do for you…..God’s peace and blessings.

Vivat Jesu
