Brother Knights,
I want to apologize for the lack of a newsletter these past few months….although it sounds “fishy”, it truly was caused by technical difficulties. But I think that they are now resolved and it will appear on the website and hopefully be able to be emailed to you as well.
Although I did a GK Corner last month, it never made it to any of you and so I again want to say a huge “THANK YOU” for all of your efforts over the past few months….first of all for a very successful and fun Irishfest and secondly for all of your help on the MH Tootsie Roll Drive. Even after lowering prices this year, we made as much as we did on Irishfest as last year…..and we passed last years donations for the Tootsie Roll drive and so again my Brothers, “THANK YOU” for all of your time and effort.
Having said that, we have a couple of events coming up that you can have fun with…we are hosting a Parish Family Breakfast on November 14th, we are hosting the St. Catherine Junior High School dance on Friday December 3rd (this is a LOT of fun if you have never helped chaperone this one) and we are having our Knights Christmas Party on Friday December 10th….. and sometime in December we will be doing a “Knight Before Christmas” membership blitz after all of the Masses…
So mark your calendars and join your Brother Knights and have some fun!!!!
Attached to this newsletter is the proposed 2005 Council budget. Take a look at it as we will be voting on it at the December meeting…..you will notice that I will not be at either the November or December meetings since I have Diaconate Classes on both of those nights….but our worthy Deputy Grand Knight will have all well in hand.
It is my sincere wish that you and yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving. As you will hear time and time again over the next few weeks, we have so much to be thankful for and unfortunately we almost become numb to hearing it….but we really are so very blessed!!! As one of the commentators said tonight on the news after the results of the election, no matter who wins or loses there will not be any tanks on our streets, no candidate will go to jail and no citizens punished for not voting “correctly”…we can go to Mass whenever we chose….we send our kids to the school we chose….how truly blessed we are!!! Please join me in thanking our Creator this Thanksgiving for all that He has bestowed on us.
God’s peace and blessings to you my Brothers,, Vivat Jesu Hank Schmalen GK
